The MainStream: A Band Born from MySpace, Defying Genres
The idea for The MainStream project was conceived in 2004 by producers Federico Malandrino (Italy) and J.C. aka The Aleph (USA/Germany). Formed entirely on MySpace.com, The MainStream was an internet collective that brought together 22 artists from around the world. Their music knew no bounds, blending acoustic folk, rock, and hip-hop. Over 8 years, the core group - Federico Malandrino (Italy), Anton Stöger (Germany), Pablo Ryan (Germany/Spain), and Joscha Blachnitzky aka J.C. (U.S.A./Germany) - toured extensively, playing 400 shows globally, from South America to China.
Their hit song 'Birds' received national radio airplay, opening doors internationally. Despite their success, the band disbanded in 2012 due to accumulated stress. At their peak, they played an impressive 30 shows in one month, each in a different city, leaving a mark as pioneers of online collaboration and boundary-defying music."
